Naim Mu-So Qb is an exciting addition to the Naim Audio range, a smaller and more compact baby brother to the award winning full-size Mu-So. Mu-So Qb is a true feat of sound engineering. Simple to control and easy to connect, Mu-so Qb delivers a staggering 300 watts to unmask your music with a sound that defies size.
Its advanced in design, yet very simple to use and its advanced connectivity will unleash your digital music, wherever it’s stored. Connect Mu-so Qb to a network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi to open up a world of music.
Options includes Airplay, Bluetooth/aptX, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, UPnP (access your stored music), Internet radio, USB, analogue and digital inputs, Apple iOS and Android App for complete control. Basically, everything you can ask for, all with the benefit of Naim sound quality!
You can combine Mu-so Qb with another Mu-so Qb or with the full size Naim Mu-so system to stream music in different rooms, for the ultimate multiroom experience. Just pause and consider this for a moment - this is multi room audio from the flagship Naim Audio brand, for the first time ever! To say we're excited about this is a huge understatement. Multi room Mu-So with all of the connectivity options summarised above now gives you an amazing alternative to other multi room solutions. Simply sync the units to play the same song beat-for-beat in up to five rooms of your home.
One of the biggest design challenges with Mu-so Qb was to configure the individual speakers within the smaller cabinet. To achieve that distinctive Naim sound in a compact unit, our engineers had to interrogate every component and adjust speaker angles by the smallest of fractions. It gave us an arrangement of five drivers, offset and angled perfectly to create a left-right dispersion discrepancy.
Mu-so Qb uses a unique configuration of seven custom speaker drivers – 1 x active bass, 2 x passive bass, 2 x mid-range and 2 x tweeters. Each active unit is individually controlled by the DSP for total accuracy. Tweeters and microfibre domes are of the highest quality, while its mid drivers have rare earth magnets and copper capped poles for even greater accuracy. And for low frequencies, we’ve installed two pistonic passive bass radiators that work alongside a custom-made woofer. There is 300W of amplification in total with each of the five drive units are powered by individual balanced Class-D amplifiers, capable of delivering 50W to the mid-range and high-frequency drivers and 100W to the bass, to create astonishing low frequencies for a system this size.
There are many other design elements that make Mu-so Qb unique - all are born from a desire for music performance and quality. An extruded aluminium heat sink maximises thermal performance. Mu-so Qb is encased in a highly complex, 20% glass-filled polymer for strength, rigidity and dampening. And at the core is the volume control - made from a solid aluminium ring, which runs the circumference of the touch-panel interface with a patent-pending illumination system.
Everything in Mu-so Qb is controlled by its audio brain – a 32-bit digital signal processor with software fine-tuned in our listening room. It controls the flow of music information to each speaker, drawing on everything we have learned from designing the best in-car audio systems for Bentley motors. It also includes two EQ settings, tailoring the best sound quality whether the unit is close to or away from the edge of any room.
